ISP
International Suicide Prevention
A nonprofit organization 501(c)(3) public charity formed in March 2006.
What does ISP do to prevent future suicides?
The
four keys to
save a life are:
Pre-screening, Awareness,
Prevention, and
Support.
Your donations go to the following four
areas:
Suicidal – Finally, there is a
program available to remove suicidal thoughts, and ISP has access to
this cutting edge technology. Pre-screening tests are given to
determine those at the greatest risk of future suicides.
Knowledge – Knowing what to do to
stop a suicide will give you piece of mind. ISP provides free
education through its website, and conducts workshops, classes, and lectures.
Support – Prevention begins with
helping those that are in the highest risk group. Those that have
experienced a loss of a loved one do to a suicide are seven times more
likely to commit suicide. ISP is the only national Emergency Crisis
Post-Suicide Family Support organization. Those that clean a
suicide scene of a friend, or family member are 75% more likely to
attempt a suicide than the general population.
Administration - Keeping the cost
of administration low is one of our top priorities as we understand
the importance of putting the funding received to work helping those
in the greatest need. Administration costs are 10% of total
budget.
ISP was formed in an effort to:
Educate the general population, community leaders, social workers,
mental health professionals, police, military and world leaders on
suicide awareness and its prevention FREE through the internet,
and conducts classes,
workshops and lectures.

-
We have already trained thousands of U.S. Army
troops that went to Iraq and Afghanistan. This is on going work
and is much needed.
-
We conducted interventions, workshops and
public awareness campaigns across America and around the world.
-
We responded to thousands of requests for
training and information about suicide awareness and its prevention.
-
Pre-screening classes are essential for
predetermining those that are in the highest risk group of future
suicides.
Providing Emergency Crisis Response
for post-suicide family support to survivors of a
suicide that are unable to afford cleanup costs, counseling, funeral
expenses, temporary housing, and other costs that may be associated
with the loss of the household breadwinner (not to exceed $10,000.00
per incident).

ISP point of contacts around the country
Our POC's (Point of
Contacts), are in major metropolitan area's that work with police
departments to determine a need, and are usually clergymen, or grief
specialists that have years of experience in the field of grief, and
trauma scenes. These POC's are not paid employee's of ISP, but
are made aware of our resources to assist in the job they already
have. This is how ISP keeps it's administrative costs extremely
low putting the needed resources where they are needed the most.
If you currently are working with a police department in your local
area as a trauma specialist, grief counselor, or TIP volunteer, email
us and learn about available resources to help those that are in the
greatest need now. |

We receive 5 to 8 requests for
family support daily.
On average, nationally, the cost of professionally cleaning a
suicide scene is ($1,500.00). There are 89 people a day,
on average, commit suicide in the United
States. And, 80% of all in home suicides are being cleaned up
by a family member! Home owners insurance will pay for suicide
scene cleanup, but most do not have the money to pay the deductible,
or due to the shame and or guilt associated with this type of death they end up cleaning the scene themselves.
-
We refer hundreds to counselors as it is a necessary
part of grieving and to reduce future suicides.
We have a proven program to eliminate suicidal thoughts that is unique
to ISP.

When a suicide happens |
Providing all of these services is essential to
reduce the need for other social services regularly associated with
caring for families that maybe displaced due to the loss of a
breadwinner, mental health issues that may arise after witnessing the
carnage often associated with a suicide, and to break the chain of
suicide.

ISP, Mr. Oscar B. Goodman, Mayor of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Those that are close to someone that
commits suicide are seven times more likely to later on in life
attempt a suicide as a way to deal with a difficult life issue.
Generally these individuals are not aware of the need to seek
professional help when dealing with a tragedy of this magnitude, and
through this organizations effort the goal is to reduce the
national,
and international suicide rate.
We do not receive any government funding
at this time.
This is a social issue touching hundreds of thousands everyday making
it an important compulsory donation for our continued humanity.
All of our work is funded by the general
public, small businesses, and cooperate donations. A big thank you
to those that care enough to want to make a difference!
